Decorate On A Budget In The Bedroom

When you think of decorating on a budget do you ever give your headboard a thought? Probably not and what is amazing is that the bed in any bedroom is always the star of the show. This article is going to cover decorating on a budget in the bedroom, specifically beds and how to make them the focal point of the room without spending a lot of money.

Bedding is a huge market with consumers. Oprah started a sheet craze on her favorite things show, talking about only getting sheets that are 400 thread count or higher. Well, I can tell you it makes a difference. The feeling of quality sheets is something to work in your budget if you can. Since they are pricier, you can offset the cost by dressing your bed with high end sheets in combination with other quilts or spreads you already have instead of investing in more expensive top bedding.

This bedroom picture is a good example of using high end sheets with low end furniture. The furniture in this home was actually handed down from grandparents. By folding the sheets back and giving the feel of a hotel or spa the bed seems just as inviting but without the big price tag. How you display and stage the bed is a key tip to decorating on a budget in the bedroom. The guests will fondly remember sleeping in that bed.

People are sleeping night after night without a headboard simply because they think they can’t afford one. Once your bed has a headboard you sleep better, it makes you feel cozier. The headboard can create an anchor to rest a pillow against so you can read a book as well as give you a way to stage your pillows to get that wonderful hotel/spa feel you should try to create. To decorate on a budget in the bedroom you simply need to create a mood and play up the bed for function and focus.

Don’t have the means to purchase a headboard you say? Sure you do and it is probably most likely in your basement, attic, or stuffed away in a closet. If not it’s surely at your local flea market, or goodwill.

Headboards can be made from a multitude of things. You just have to decide what style or function you want from your headboard. Remember whatever you choose will be the star of the show so make it count.

If you need a headboard to alternately function as a night stand, try using a sofa table or small dresser at the head of your bed. The surface area can be used to hold lamps, books, clocks, or family photos.

To get a punch of color in a room frame two large pictures at headboard height above the bed. If you don’t have any pictures then frame some fabric or simply tape off a square or rectangle area on the wall and paint a simple design to look like a headboard.

Old architectural doors make great headboards as well as wrought iron from railings or banisters. Use your imagination but create a mood with your sheets and find a hand me down that will serve as your headboard. You can decorate on a budget in the bedroom to make yourself feel good when you lay down at night as well as when you wake up. Great thoughts from sun up to sundown.
